Essay DIAL5111 – Digital and Academic Literacies – Arts & Humanities Assignment Help

Assignment Task

Assessment Background
As explained in your Module Outline and on Learn, the assessment structure for DIAL5111/d/p/w has two components, namely ICE Tasks (10% of your final mark) and the Portfolio of Evidence (PoE– 90% of your final mark).

ICE Tasks
ICE stands for Integrated Curriculum Engagement, and the various short tasks that you will work on during the course of the semester are aimed at helping you to practise and develop some of the key skills you will need for your PoE. A minimum of four tasks need to be completed – these could be Learn activities, tasks set by your lecturer/tutor, or a combination. Your lecturer/tutor will indicate to you which tasks/activities will count towards your ICE Task final mark.

PoE Tasks and Submission
A PoE is a set of larger tasks that all focus on one topic, and that build on one another, requiring you to implement the constructive feedback you receive from one task into your work on the next task. The DIAL5111/d/p/w PoE has three tasks, and you need to be working on your PoE throughout the semester.
You will submit Task 1 and Task 2 during the semester on dates set by your lecturer/tutor or campus. Your lecturer/tutor will mark each task, and provide you with detailed feedback that you are expected to use to develop your thinking and improve your work for the next task. At the end of the semester you will submit Task 3. NB – do not resubmit Task 1 and Task 2 when you submit Task 3. Rather, you are expected to incorporate all the feedback you have received throughout the module into your work on Task 3, to demonstrate what you have learnt.

PoE Task 1 — Searching for and Evaluating Resources. In this first task, you will find and examine various readings and resources that you can use as evidence to support your position on the PoE topic. NB – The IIE’s Technical Referencing Rubric will not apply to Task 1.

PoE Task 2 — Formulating an Argument and Essay Plan. In this second task, you will use the resources you found in Task 1 (and/or from additional research) to clearly identify and explain your position on the PoE topic, and to plan your essay on this topic using an essay skeleton.

PoE Task 3 — Writing the Essay. In this final task of the PoE you are required to write an essay (800 – 1000 words) in which you present your position on, and evidence for, the PoE topic: Critically evaluate whether lecturers and students at tertiary institutions in South Africa must be allowed freedom of speech.
