This is my reflection at the midway placement practise at dialysis unit

Reflection on progress of Knowledge

I have been assessed and accomplished some of the proficiencies around communication and assessment of patient during pre-dialysis and intradialytic observation.

I am able to recognise the signs of deterioration by checking and interpret the vital sign of individual patient eg. blood pressure may drop during dialysis if fluid is removed at faster rate, this can make patient feel dizzy, sick and can also get muscle cramps.

I gain broader knowledge about infection control precautions and I am confidently able to wash hand regularly before and after patient contact, use of PPE, cleaning and disinfection the patient surrounding and the safe use and disposal of sharps.

I gain the knowledge of how to set up the dialysis machine correctly.
