Context – Choose a local or international organisation with which you are familiar. All of your answers must be based on this organisation. You must be able to easily obtain the required background information to enable you to respond to the Tasks. In answering the Tasks, you should assume the role of a new CEO who has been brought in to reinvigorate the organisation’s fortunes.
You must provide a one-page summary of background information on your chosen organisation.
This must include:

• Name of the organisation
• Size of organisation
• Main markets where it operates (geographical locations)
• Examples of products and services
• Key competitors
• Main customer segments

In addition to the above, you can include any other information which might be useful for the marker to help them understand the context of your answers. Your organisation summary is not included in the overall word count.

Task 1
Critically evaluate the leadership principles needed to embed a new strategy within your chosen organisation. You are required to use theory and examples to support your answer.

Task 2
a) Critically examine your chosen organisation’s competitive position within the market in which it operates. You are required to support your answer with theory and data.
b) Critically evaluate TWO opportunities for change (arising from your findings in task 2a that support your chosen organisation’s objectives.

Task 3
a) For ONE of the opportunities for change identified in task 2b, develop a plan to implement and monitor the change successfully.
b) Critically assess how any resistance to this change might be overcome.

Task 4
a) Critically evaluate the skills required to lead strategic change within your chosen organisation.
b) Set SMART objectives and recommend actions as part of a management development plan to enable senior managers to improve in the areas identified in task 4a
