You are transporting an elderly gentleman (James, 76 years) who is a low acuity patient and is quite frail.
You are taking him from his aged care residential facility to his hearing appointment at the audiologist.
James is making the journey unaccompanied.
His journey is from one inner city suburb to another and the distance is 15 kms.
James usually uses a wheel chair for ambulation, but he can transfer to a passenger seat in the car.
During the pre-journey check of the vehicle you identify that the seat belt buckle (clasp) does not engage. In fact, it engaged only 3 times out of 5 tries.
