This research essay requires history, global or international development studies students to explore an aspect of the history of human rights in more depth and to think critically about human rights violations, perpetrators and/or defenders, international responses or interventions. Students are required to consult a range of primary and secondary sources, drawing primarily upon the recommended reading lists that are available for each essay question and then using research and library skills to find some more sources yourself. Students should read these materials, compare different perspectives, and draw a conclusion based on at least three primary sources and at least 6 secondary sources.
