Description

This assessment requires you to develop a small portfolio of potential behavioural design opportunities that you identify in your own financial advice practice (i.e., for your existing or prospective clients), or in a hypothetical organisational or public policy setting. You will draw insights from behavioural finance theory and recognised behavioural design frameworks, as well as your organisational/industry experience, to identify between two and three specific opportunities to design for behavioural change or improve financial decision making. The assessment is comprised of two parts: a video presentation and a written report.

Part 2 – Written Report: This portion of the assessment is worth 25% of your final grade. You will prepare a written report which details and explains your proposed behavioural design opportunities, supported with relevant evidence justifying the opportunities. The written report should include the following for each of your proposed behavioural design opportunities:

a) a clear description justifying the specific key behaviour you want to encourage,

b) identification and definition of relevant behavioural biases impeding the key behaviour, and c) a detailed explanation of your proposed behavioural design intervention, with relevant evidence (and references) supporting why you believe it will be effective. Some guidance and advice to ensure the successful completion of your portfolio of behavioural design opportunities report:

1. Your report should be written clearly and concisely. It must include an executive summary of the key points of your proposed behavioural design opportunities and anticipated outcomes. The executive summary is NOT an introduction to your report. It should not introduce new concepts, rather merely summarise the contents of the report.

2. Your report will be assessed on how well it demonstrates an understanding of behavioural finance theory, as well as relevant principles and frameworks which promote behavioural change. Simply applying examples from the course materials, for example, does not demonstrate such understanding. Identifying a key behaviour and articulating ways to reduce barriers or amplify benefits to facilitate behavioural change, for example, will demonstrate such understanding. Likewise, a coherent explanation and application of Nudge Theory or the EAST Framework, will also demonstrate such understanding.

3. Your report will be framed professionally and will include the following minimum format:

i. Title Page which will include formal title; your name and student ID number; date and unit ame and code

ii. Table of Contents including headings and subheadings and page numbers

iii. Executive Summary – purpose of the report, approach taken, and anticipated outcomes.

v. Behavioural Intervention Opportunity 2

vi. Behavioural Intervention Opportunity 3 (optional)

vii. References (use the Harvard style of referencing).
