Assignment Task:

Continuous Assessment (CASS)
A CASS module has a series of assessments that are completed over the course of the module. Each assessment is assigned a specific weighting and together, these are used to calculate the final mark for the module. There is no supplementary assessment opportunity for a CASS module. Should a student miss any of their online tests, they must download the Application for a Re-test form from the Assessment Office page on ECI and submit it via the email address provided on the form.

Tests

Test 1
Test 1 is an online referencing test and you will complete this test on ECI. The test comprises of 25 multiple-choice questions based on Unit 2 (Referencing and Plagiarism). The test will be available on ECI for 5 days. You will be notified of the test dates on the assessment calendar. Once you begin the test you will have exactly 1 hour to complete it. 

Please be aware of the following:
• After 1 hour the test will automatically close and you will no longer be able to respond to any questions. The system will mark all of the questions you have completed.
• Please ensure you have a good internet connection and sufficient battery on your device to be able to spend 1 hour on the test.
• Your test will be automatically marked on ECI. You will receive your mark for the test after the test closes.
• The test will close on the due date at midnight. If you choose to complete it on the final day it is open, please start the test at 11pm at the latest, as it will automatically close at midnight, regardless of the time you started the test.
• Please be cautious of copying your friends. Not only is this cheating, but ECI will also be mixing up the questions and answers, so this practice is not advisable.

Test 2
Test 2 is an online test that will be completed and submitted on ECI. The test will be available for 5 days and you will have all week to work on it. It must, however, be submitted by midnight on the due date. You will be able to work on it all week, and open and close the document on ECI, but please ensure that you remember to submit it before the due date (you will have to click on the submit button in order to submit it).

This test will be marked online and your marked script and feedback will be returned to you via ECI.

This test will focus on Unit 1 (Academic Writing), Unit 2 (Referencing and Plagiarism) and Unit 6 (Library Skills).

Test 3
This is an online test and will focus on Unit 4 (Reading and Understanding academic texts). However, some questions in the test might focus on the other 6 Units, so it is important that you have a good understanding of all of the material covered in this course for this test. In this test, one of the texts that we have read this semester will be tested in detail. You will be informed of which text will be tested closer to the date of the test.

It is important that you prepare the text that will be tested well. In order to do this, it is suggested that you:
• read the text many times;
• look up any words that you do not understand;
• ensure that you understand every element of the text (if you do not understand sections it is advisable that you contact your lecturer or the C4SS for further guidance); and
• are able to answer questions about the text, such as what it aimed to find out and how.
