THE QUESTION:
Njota Limited, the company you work for has noticed that for the last three months sales of their soft drink called ‘Njota’ have been dropping. You are required to conduct a research to determine why this is so. Please prepare a research proposal to present to management. You should observe each and every step of the research process.

-Introduction
At Njota Company ltd, it has been noticed that the sales of soft drinks has been dropping. Within the last 3 months, customers are no longer buying Njota drink as before. The demand for the commodity has reduced.

Research plan
A review was made to see the length of impact with which the reduction in the sales of the soft drinks has had on our company. Our maximum level of production has been reduced; even then inventory still builds up. A hypothesis test was undertaken in order to see the behavior of customer’s consumption pattern during different seasons. It has been noted that Njota juice is highly consumed in summer. Customers prefer taking it cold on a sunny day. We are 3 months in winter; hence customers prefer consuming products that will suit the current weather. The effect of weather is clearly seen in the reduction of the sales for the soft drinks.

Data collection
Primary data was gathered as a survey was taken in order to collect first hand information that answers our question, “why have sales of soft drinks been reducing”. This data is external as it was collected from our market segment customers. Collection of this data gave us an insight on what our customers want.

Data collection design
Data was collected through an experiment and observation that was conducted on the chosen sample. A team of workers from Njota company ltd gave out bottles of soft drinks to some people yet gave a hot cup of chocolate tea made by Njota. It was observed that tea was consumed more that soft drink.
