If you want to lose “weight”, you have to burn calories. However, have you ever wondered where the lost mass goes? We know that, according to the Law of Conservation of Mass, “weight loss” cannot cause matter to simply disappear. Therefore, what is going on chemically when someone loses “weight”? What happens with the lost mass? This assessment task requires you to produce a written report on the chemistry of “losing weight”. You will draw on your knowledge and understanding of atoms, molecules, matter, bonds, chemical equations, and chemical reactions. You will refer to a minimum of three scholarly sources (i.e. journal articles and/or textbooks) to help you explain where the lost mass goes when you “lose weight”.

This is a research by reading report, as you are presenting a report based on the findings of research by reading the literature. You are not required to conduct your own experiment. Preparing your Assessment 2 submission

Introduction
The Introduction section sets the scene for the reader. For example, explain atoms, matter, chemical reactions, the Law of Conservation of Mass, and so forth.
