Problem Statement
Covid-19 was declared as a pandemic on March 11th, 2020, by WHO, which had a hugeimpact on the whole world that countries closed their borders to prevent further diseasetransmission. The tourism industry is one of the hardest-hit sectors. Unfortunately, mostforecasts do not consider disruption, especially one with a big scale that started happening inearly 2020. Many destinations suffer due to businessescannot function normally, includingMalaysia. The region even got hit earlier as most of its international visitors are from China.China’s direct flights were stopped entirely since February 2020, more than one month beforethe disease was declared a pandemic, because Covid-19 was already an epidemic in China inJanuary 2020. This unquestionably struck the region’s economy because a lot of localbusinesses were highly dependent on visitors. Crises do not come so often, but it must beacknowledged that it can happen anytime. Malaysia neverexperienced such a big-scale crisis,especially not when it is experiencing huge development growth. Past studies have shown thatCovid-19 had a significant impact on the national economy. Many studies have been done onthe effects of Covid-19 on Malaysia’s economy. However, not many studies have been doneon the impact of Covid-19 on Malaysia’s tourism industry. Therefore, this study wasconducted to determine the extent of the impact of Covid-19 on the tourism industry inMalaysia. Thus, this study will answer the impact of Covid-19 on the tourism industry inMalaysia and find out what issues the local businesses are facing while the pandemic is
ongoing, what kind of risks they had prepared for, how they are coping with the situation, andCovid-19 on Malaysia’s tourism industry. These results can let tourism organizations measureand take action.

1. How the Covid-19 outbreak affected the tourism industry in Malaysia?
2. Does the tourism industry face the effect of coronavirus (Covid-19) in Malaysia?
3. How is a virus affecting the Tourist Consumption Behaviour in the tourism industry in Malaysia?
