1. You are the team leader of the Process Development of XYZ Pte Ltd. You are given 6 months to freeze design specifications for key equipment, process flowsheets and manufacturing vendors for the production setup. The production process includes 5 industrial units: Pre-processing/Feedstocks preparation unit, Mixing unit, Freezing unit, Drying unit, Post processing/packaging unit. The target capacity for commercial production is 1000 sheets per month. The drying unit is a batch process and has constraints with regards to capacity, number of hours to complete one cycle and capital cost. Design process gates and development plan matrix for each of the industrial units with objectives, time schedule, go/no-go matrix and provide a strategy map with the key considerations according to the constraints and deliverables. You are also expected to state key decisions / milestones in your timeline.
– The feedstocks may include flammable liquids, high viscosity materials, etc
– The initial wet formulation includes 60% solvent
– Final dried product is a rigid board with target size of 0.6m x 1.2m x 25mm (thick) for sales
