Assessment Guidelines

For a public health topic of your choice, identify and critically appraise one peer reviewed research article. Critically evaluate the appropriateness of its methods and findings, and identify its strengths, weaknesses and limitations to inform public health practice. Your work should include and cover the following sections/aspects and content (as shown and stated in the table below). The specific percentage marks allocated to each 3 section/aspect of your work is stated below. Please also note that the Level 7 marking criteria (located towards the end of this assessment brief) will also be used to reflect this overall grade. Please remember that achievement and demonstration of learning outcome 2 is being assessed in this assessment. The chosen peer reviewed published research article (the chosen study) should also be clearly introduced (author, year, journal, topic, aim of the study). The chosen study can be quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods but not a systematic review or metaanalysis. Also, please note that the chosen study should be upto-date (ideally published within the last 5 years), must be peer reviewed and from reputable sources (scientific bibliographic databases, WHO, UNICEF sources, etc.)
