Leadership is something we all think politically about. But as a matter of fact it’s a trait that is required in every field of life. It’s a skill that can be learnt and can also be an innate characteristic that one can be bestowed with. Unfortunate societies are the ones who do not let the leaders lead, by this it is meant that a team that supports its leader is equally important in successful progression of a system/society.
Speaking about the organizations, great organizations start with great leaders. It always starts with a person who can dream big and sacrifice his comfort to seek those dreams. Moreover, judging people for their appropriate potential and paving a way for them to work at their maximum capabilities is always a role of a great leader. Not everyone can lead, but most of the people can be turned in to valuable team players by being uplifted from ordinary performers with right kind of leadership. A great leader is always a great motivator and that motivation is something that runs like blood in the body of organization to keep it healthy and well performing. Leaders recognize potential and polish them. Organizations with great leaders always retain their valuable performers at any cost verses this is the major missing in the organizations with flawed leadership that better people eventually leave them after gaining expertise.If we say that good leadership is the most important thing organization needs, it would not be an overstatement. Majority of the people are followers, they like to follow, and it’s like an inbuilt characteristic in them. A few people are naturally courageous enough to take the responsibility on their shoulders, change the trends and endure the pressure of expectations people have towards their leaders. Hence as it is mentioned before, leadership can be learnt just like any other soft skill or can be improved by putting one’s self in such a situation, by thinking consciously about/feeling the responsibility as well as by educating and equipping yourself with right kind of knowledge.
Also leaders are crucial during the change implementation process, which spans the period between the announcement of the change and its implementation. The organisation is at its most insecure throughout this period, marked by uncertainty, apprehension, a lack of direction, lower efficiency, and a lack of clarification about its direction and mandate. It can be an emotional time, with workers lamenting what they have lost.
