ASSIGNMENT INFORMATION 

For this assessment, you are required to solve a conflict between two parties at a company where you are employed as a manager. 

• Both parties are subordinates at a similar level; 

• Each is in charge of a team of four employees tasked with increasing sales within a particular geographical region. 

Employee A approached you as she felt left out of important communication and decision making which affects her ability to carry out her job. She felt that this was due to underlying hostility from Employee B, and that she was deliberately being left out of meetings and e-mail communications. 

Employee B, however, argues that he always ensures to invite Employee A to any relevant meeting, but that she always claims to have scheduling conflicts which means she can’t attend. Moreover, he says that any e-mail communication that she has been left out of either isn’t relevant to her, or pertains to meetings, which she has missed. Inviting both employees to a private meeting to resolve the situation results in vociferous arguments that quickly turn into personal attacks: Employee A claims that Employee B is trying to freeze her out due to personal differences, while Employee B retorts that Employee A is lazy and trying to place the blame of her failing team on him. 

The question is how do you, as a manager, resolve this issue? How would you approach the communications to reach a resolution and why would you opt for that approach?
