Salaries at your store are well above industry average, which is why after reviewing data from an employee survey, you are surprised to learn that employees are not feeling motivated to perform well at their jobs. Using the job characteristics model, explain three ways you might alter job design and/or work roles to increase employee motivation. Be sure to use examples of concrete organisational changes in your response. (300-350 words)
2. While any one leader may adapt multiple leadership styles, there are times where different leadership styles may conflict. Discuss an organisational dilemma in which it would be difficult for a leader to fully implement both the servant leadership and ethical leadership style, and explain why this is the case. Then, for both servant leadership and ethical leadership, discuss one way the leader might resolve the dilemma that is consistent with each leadership style (that is, one solution demonstrating ethical leadership, one solution demonstrating servant leadership). Be sure to explain how each solution to the dilemma exemplifies the corresponding leadership style. (300-350 words)
3. Describe a business practice that meets the legal level of social responsibility but not the ethical level. Then, discuss two forms of moral disengagement that business leaders might employ to justify the practice. Finally, explain how implementing utilitarianism could help to make the business more ethical. (300 words)
4. Imagine you are the manager of a marketing team and are responsible for giving end-of-year feedback to each team member about their individual performance. One of your employees has performed particularly poorly relative to the rest of the team. However, when you show this person his performance numbers, he is surprised. He explains that he had no idea he was doing so badly and actually thought that he was performing well compared to the rest of the team. First, discuss three heuristics and/or biases that might have resulted in this perception. Then, explain two specific actions you would take to help prevent this issue from arising in the future. (300-350nwords)
5. Alex is an entrepreneur who founded a company that is showing promise in the market. A larger corporation, Corporation A, offers to purchase Alex’s company for 5 million dollars. However, after receiving this offer, another corporation, Corporation B, expresses interest in the company. After negotiations with Corporation B, Alex accepts a 4.2 million dollar offer from Corporation B. First, explain one reason why this negotiation outcome may have occurred, assuming that Alex is happy with the negotiation outcome. Then, explain two reasons why this negotiation outcome may have occurred, assuming that Alex is not happy with the negotiation outcome. Finally, provide one strategy Alex could use to obtain a better outcome in future negotiations. (300-350 words)
6. Imagine you are the CEO of a small company that designs, manufactures, and sells medical devices. You are considering releasing a new type of device that differs widely compared those you typically sell. This is quite a complex decision, so you assemble a team of your best salespeople to decide if and how this should be done. In the end, your salespeople recommend that the new device be released, and you follow this recommendation. However, the new device fails miserably in the market. Explain two reasons why the team you constructed may have arrived at this sub-optimal decision. Then, provide two ideas for how you might design the team differently in the future to improve decision making. (300-350 words)
7. Imagine that you accept a job as a salesperson for a company that sells espresso machines to local retail businesses. Your company doesn’t provide you with strong training, so you lack expertise on the product. Yet, you are still expected to walk into local businesses and sell the product anyway. Discuss three interpersonal influence strategies you might use to sell the product when talking to potential customers (retail managers). For each strategy, describe at least one tangible behaviour that demonstrates the corresponding strategy. (300-350 words)

However, she was recently assigned to work under a new manager, while still having the same work responsibilities. This resulted in her job satisfaction increasing significantly. First, construct an explanation for why Min may have originally had low job satisfaction that is consistent with the affective events model. Then, given the explanation you constructed, discuss possible reasons why Min’s job satisfaction increased using the PERMA model. (300-350 words)
