2. Contemporary challenge within the workforce in the hospitality industry
The hospitality industry is seen to be growing in the current time. After globalisation, a number of hotels are seen to be expanding the business in different global locations. As a result of this expansion a number of challenges are faced by the hotels in managing the workforce. The hotel organisation chosen for the discussion is Marriott Hotel (Noe et al. 2017). Marriott is basically a US hotel company and at present the company has its branches in many European, Asian and African countries. However, due to global expansion the hotel is facing problem of managing the workforce of different ethnic and religious backgrounds in different countries.
3. Critical evaluation of HRM strategy- Flexible Work culture
From the discussion carried out in the above section it is clear that a number of workforce challenges are being faced by the hotel due to hiring of diverse workforce at the global level. In order to work upon these identified challenges the hotel has been using the strategy of diversity management through which it is managing the diverse workforce in an effective manner (Nankervis et al. 2016). In simple terms, diversity management is used as a strategy wherein greater inclusion of employees is promoted in a smooth manner. With the help of this strategy the company is able to address multiple lifestyles and personal characteristics within a defined group of employees and this in turn helps in motivating the employees in an effective manner.
