Learning Outcomes –
1. Reflect upon, identify and articulate the importance of cultural awareness and understanding of intercultural competence.
2. Explain and apply a range of theories needed to successfully live together in a culturally diverse world.
3. Share intercultural learning with others through a group presentation using modern technologies.
4. Communicate orally and in writing an awareness and understanding of intercultural competence.

Context:  

This assignment is about sharing your intercultural learning. The group presentation task is therefore  an opportunity for you to apply your intercultural competence in a team environment. Furthermore,  this assessment also encourages you to consider how you can share your knowledge and  understanding with others in a professional context.  

Instructions: The class will be divided into groups of 3. In cases where it is impossible to have a group of 3, a group of 4 will be assigned the task.

Peer Review form 

You will be required to write minutes during all your meetings and fill in a peer review form for each  member of your group, based on the peer review criteria, in Week 11. Peer review will comprise 10%  of your grade for this assessment and has 3 steps. 

Step1: 

Groups are expected to keep minutes of their meetings which need to be inserted into your Peer  Review form. The minutes will serve as a record of participation in the meetings and will document  what was covered when, how and by whom. In case of contention regarding the results of Peer  Review, the minutes will serve as a point of reference for resolving any issue and should be kept as  evidence and be presented if required.  

Step 2and 3 

The criteria for scoring your peers for their team participation is provided below. The form for  completing the peer review is available via the Assessment tab in the main menu. You will need to  write a small paragraph for each group member giving feedback to the team members participation  in the group. 

The paragraph needs to address the following questions 

Please rate each group member’s contribution based on yes (1) or no (0):  

1. Attended scheduled meetings  

2. Contributed to discussions  

3. Completed tasks fully and on time 

4. Made suggestions, sought feedback, showed interest in team decision making and planning

5. Shared Information  

6. Worked cooperatively with others  

7. Contributed “fair share” to team project, given the nature of assignment  

8. Carried out tasks without overly depending on other team members  

9. Good consistent communication  

10. Individual contributions to promote a successful team meeting
