This is project is in two parts. You are required to complete each part.

Part A 

In the Learner Guide for this unit, you were asked to download copies of the following documents:

• Early Childhood Australia 2011, Code of ethics.
• Unicef 1996, A simplified version of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Write a short reflection, approximately 250 to 300 words, on how these documents inform your role as an educator, both theoretically and practically.

The code of ethics is a guide for professional behaviour and ethical decision.
The early childhood Australia code of ethics states that, ‘’regarding children, I will Respond to the special rights of children and families with additional needs.  

The united nation convention ensure that every child have a right in the society to relax and play,  to be free from abuse and neglect ,participate in a wide range of cultural and other activities.  The convention also states that children have legal right to be active participant in matter that effect their lives and that o their family, to have confident to speak up and input their opinion relating to decision involving them.

The role of educator is to set-up environment that are welcoming, engaging and flexible and that allow children to have an impact. There should be enough space so that the children can be together or spread out and encourage children to do things for themselves.

Part B  

Write a short, easy-to-read article on a service’s approach to behaviour guidance for a family newsletter. The article should be suitable for an education and care service that cares for children aged 0 to 6 years, and be approximately 300 words.

The focus of your short article should be on ‘why we focus on positive behaviour guidance not punishment’. Your article should include:

• reflections on values and how these guide our understanding of appropriate and inappropriate behaviours 
• how the service responds to behaviour incidents.
