A 63-year-old woman, with no previous medical history of breast cancer, was referred to a medical oncology clinic. As part of her diagnosis, a core biopsy of the tumour mass (located in her breast) showed invasive ductal carcinoma. Immunocytochemical methods found the mass to be oestrogen receptor (ER) 95% positive, progesterone receptor (PR) 85% positive, and HER2 negative. After lumpectomy the patient underwent a period of chemotherapy during which they suffered from recurrent bladder infections requiring additional anti-microbial therapy.
-Using appropriate diagrams of signalling pathways, discuss the pathophysiology that underpins hormone receptor-positive breast cancer

Discuss the molecular basis of action of these therapeutic agents and some of the side-effects they might induce.
-Discuss the roles of specific enterococcal virulence factors that promote colonisation of the bladder and the molecular basis for the sensitivity and resistance of the bacterium to the relevant antibiotics (i.e. both vancomycin and ciprofloxacin)
