For this assessment, a project opportunity is described. The opportunity is a fully fictional project opportunity. This fictional opportunity will use fictional dates; some situations based on realistic data, regions, and opportunities; and supplemented with other fictional data. This fictional opportunity allows you to demonstrate your project planning and early project preparation knowledge and skills. In addition, you will demonstrate your ability to adjust and customize project management processes to meet business needs as stated in the brief. Simulated dates will use the format of **dd/MMM/yyyy**. For this Assessment 2, please conduct project planning activities for this Assessment 3 including the COVID-19 issues as they currently exist. For this Assessment 2, you will need to plan with flexibility of dealing with restricted transportation, state and local lockouts that come and go, and other COVID-19 impacts. YOUR TASKS FOR ASSESSMENT 3 Assessment 3 will continue the scenario and project opportunity described in Assessment 2. Be sure to fully understand the project opportunity by reviewing the Assessment 2 briefs. In addition, the project is moving forward in time with new information being provided to you. You will now simulate as if a charter has been approved for a project team. While the charter is written for 9 months of work, your assessment will only simulate preparing a Project Management Plan (PMP) during the first few weeks. Your Assessment 3 consists of two basic components, Part A and Part B. Part A is participation on a team prepared PMP. Part B is your analysis and reflection on a few of the many inter-relationships, inter-dependencies, ongoing project dynamics, and requirements of project management.

DESCRIPTION OF ASSESSMENT 3 PART A

Part A of your assessment is your participation as a team member to insure preparation of a fully complete, accurate, integrated, and thorough PMP. This includes two subcomponents of (a) participating on all sections of a PMP, and (b) having extra preparation responsibility of some PMP section(s) assigned specifically to you. The charter identified several specific skills of the team members. You are welcome to envision yourself as one of these team members or as a team member that you identified in your draft Charter, but that is not required. You are to contribute as if you are any team member or supporting 3rd party to the team. Once an approved charter is released, then the project team needs to form. The Project Manager will start assembling the team and beginning work. Sometimes a delay occurs while the Project Manager searches for and hires the team members. Once the team comes together, a beginning task is completing PMBOK process “13.1 Identify Stakeholders”.

A template for an initial stakeholder register is provided as Attachment 2; you can expand using the stakeholder register that you prepared in your previous assignment. This addresses the first two sub steps of “Perform identification” and “Obtain Information”. Now that you are simulated a working team, you will contribute and collaborate on the next sub step of “Conduct Classification”. Understanding stakeholders is the foundation for starting the PMBOK planning processes, which are brought together in a Project Management Plan (PMP). With the foundation of stakeholders and their analysis to date, a follow-on process step is for you to contribute and collaborate on Scope Management which is another foundation section the PMP. Ultimately, project scope will be represented by a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). First however, all project requirements need to be defined. Project scope definition follows so that it be designed to fulfill the requirements. Once Scope Management is reasonably started, the other sections of the PMP now have stakeholders, requirements, and scope as its foundations for building and updating.
