Background Tricker (2019, p. 207) states that “(corporate risk involves the gain or loss that might be incurred by an uncertain event”. This is reflected by the many examples and case studies of entities going out of business (or near collapsing) due to catastrophic, extreme or severe losses caused by unanticipated events that jeopardised their survival (see Tricker 2019, p. 208, for a list of examples). As such, risk management is a critical activity, one that the board of directors should be responsible for to safeguard the value of an entity. In the past, risks in an entity were more of a day-to-day management task and not corporate governance, board-level concern. This assessment seeks to reinforce the importance of unanticipated event risks that directors and the board need to be aware of. 

Task 

Conduct a review of risks (ie, strategic, management, and/or operational levels) in an entity of your choice as a corporate governance issue and write a report about your findings. Use the concepts, tools and techniques learned in this subject to review these issues at the board and/or management levels.
