 In his book,?One Hundred Years of Dirt, Rick Morton wrote the following passage: “privilege is the absence of contest, which is no doubt comfortable, but it does not create good citizens. It is a social lethargy that promotes quite silently, the ignorance of a minority experience” (2018, p. 178). 

With reference to prescribed and suggested readings and other relevant material, critically analyse the above passage in relation to the operations of?privilege and oppression?with specific reference to a diverse population explored in this topic. 

 As this assignment follows an essay format, it requires an introduction, a conclusion and a coherent argument throughout. You should support your argument by using a specific example to demonstrate your understanding. You must use ‘first person’ when you write this paper, because social work requires us to reflect upon where we are situated within systems of power. Correct and quality referencing is an expectation.

 You are expected to use the material from the annotated bibliography you created for Assignment 2 and to have incorporated the feedback provided in terms of resources, essay statement and referencing accurately.

There needs to be a focus on social justice in your essay. You need to focus on exploring the underlying power imbalance that leads to the oppression of the population you have chosen.
