Assignment Task :

James just loves cars. He loves big cars with big engines and lots of power. If James had his way, he would have a garage full of fast cars; one for each day of the week.

James’ wife, Patricia, has a theory that fast cars use more petrol per 100 km. James disagrees and reckons that most cars use about the same amount of petrol, some just get there quicker.

You are going to investigate if the power of a car can be used as a predictor for its fuel consumption. You have been provided with the data of the power of several cars (measured in horsepower) and the amount of fuel they consume to drive 100 km in a city environment.

• Can we conclude from the observed association that a high fuel consumption in a car is due to its high power? Justify your answer.
• Summarise your findings and conclusions in a brief report. Make sure you answer the posed question.
