Assignment Task :

Following are the details of your literature review assignment, which is due on the last day of class. Read the handouts and notes on writing a literature review before embarking on the assignment. It would greatly help if you also read beyond the above to get an in depth understanding on what a literature review is and how it is written.

Choose any subject within the field of corporate communication, preferably amongst the subjects discussed in class. Once you have selected a subject, narrow it down to a thesis statement e.g. Employee organisation relationships in government institutions. Employee organisation relationships (EORs) is part of the larger subject, relationship management, which would be too broad a subject to study. You will be required to clear your subject in the next class, that is, 14/3/19.

TOPIC :  RISK COMMUNICATION THEORY 

Your assignments must be 15-20 pages long and should include not less than 25 different citations from a broad swathe of academic sources. The majority of citations must be from journal articles. See separate handout on 20 questions to ask about a research article.

Try to briefly discuss each citation as opposed to just mentioning what the author said. Your discussions should be critical, comparative and portray an understanding of the subject. Confine your citations to the field of corporate communication. Some of the questions that would help your discussions include: What type of journal article is it? Is it a research paper? Commentary? Review paper? What was the subject under study? What theory or theories were used? What/who was the subject of the study? Was the study qualitative, quantitative or mixed? What were the major findings of the study? What conclusions did the researcher(s) make in that paper? How does the study compare with other similar studies? What do you think about that study? Confine the discussions on each citation to a paragraph.
