Person-centred care improves patients’ experiences of health care and contributes to safe and quality care. Therefore, person-centred care is an integral aspect of nursing practice. Along with developing skills in searching for evidence, this assignment task will deepen your understanding of person-centred care and its relationship to safety and quality, in addition to supporting the development of your academic writing skills. This will be beneficial for your future university assignments. 

Task Description: 

Read the article Tobiano, Bucknall, Marshall, Guinane and Chaboyer (2016) and answer the following discussion points: 

1. Explain how person-centred care contributes to safe and quality care.

2. Explain the role of the nurse when delivering person-centred care.

3. Discuss one barrier to person-centred care. 

Each answer to the discussion points should be approximately 500 words not including in-text citations and quotes. It is important to look beyond a single source when writing an assignment at the tertiary level. For each discussion point, you need to find one (1) article which supports your answer in addition to the Tobiano et al. (2016) article. These additional references should NOT be secondary citations already contained in the article provided. Therefore, you should be citing Tobiano et al. (2016) and another research article in each answer to the above discussion points.
