Aim

The overall aim of this module is to prepare you to undertake a period of research in one or more areas of Accounting/Finance; Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)/sustainability, Economics and Finance, Entrepreneurship, HRM, International Business and Management, Innovation, Leadership and Organisations, Marketing, Operations Management/Supply Chains and Strategy.

The module delivery includes a variety of teaching and learning methods which will encourage active participation. In addition to the above academic aim, this module aims to promote a variety of transferable skills, as noted in the Learning and Teaching Approach (LTA) section of the Module Descriptor.

On completion of the module, students are expected to:

LO1 Critically assesses how case study research design is shaped by ontological and epistemological assumptions. 

LO2 Critically evaluate how case studies can be used to inform business and management decision making. 

LO3 Critically analyse a secondary database and evaluate its role in supporting effective business analysis.

LO4 Analyse the relative strengths and weaknesses of a case study research design in a variety of research contexts.
