Assignment Task :

1. Learning Objective 

The aim of this coursework is to demonstrate that you have understood and are able to put into practice the theory and technologies of E-Commerce discussed in class, such as applying data analytics to prevent customer churn, using latent factor-based algorithms to recommend relevant products and, implementing secure payment systems. It should also show your ability to critically analyse real-world e-commerce scenarios and propose web technology solutions and/or enhancements. From the Graduate Aspect, it will give you the opportunity to develop your communication, time management, teamwork, constructive criticism and learning-from-peers skills. 

2. General Guidelines  

This is a critical-analysis-oriented coursework. Working in teams of four students, you will participate in the implementation of two technologies used in e-commerce. While students are free to choose to do any two of the four technologies that are parts of t h i s coursework; undergraduate students and students with computer science background are advised to contribute with their software development skills. Information Systems and Master students are expected to commit a substantial amount of time and effort to contribute with their business management and critical thinking skills. 

3. Technologies 

1. Customer churn prevention (data mining and web analytics) 
2. Recommender systems (latent factor based algorithms) 
3. Secure online payment transactions (any of the four PCI DSS techniques). For your demo you are expected to use PayPal or an alternative online payment service.
