This assessment has 3 parts to it.

Part A: Musicology Seminar (Music Scores/Presentation Skills)

Part B: Musicology Seminar (Concepts of Music)

Part C: Performance

Part A and B Description: Musicology Seminar

(Outcome P2, P4 and PS) Students are to research, prepare a 6 – 7 minute seminar on an allocated topic. The given topic will relate directly to the unit ‘Methods of Notating Music.’ This should include:

• a brief contextual introduction to the time period in which the notation system was developed

• an explanation of the notation system

• at least 1 score excerpt

• an aural (recorded) example

• ideally, a performed demonstration
