Question 1
Suppose that the minimum number of buses required during the ith hour of the day be denoted by bi (i=1,…,24). Each bus works for 6 consecutive hours. If the number of buses during the ith hour is more than bi, then a cost (Ci) incurs per hour per bus. Formulate the problem as a linear programming problem to minimize the total cost of extra buses.

There are 3 types of aircrafts to be assigned to 4 different routes. In Table 1, the following information are provided:
• the maximum capacity of aircrafts (number of passengers),
• the maximum number of available aircraft of each type,
• the number of flights that an aircraft completes on each route, and
• the number of passengers of routes.
