Introduction
This Candidate Assessment Guide should be used to provide information and instructions to the reader regarding the assessment requirements for the unit HLTMSG005 Provide remedial massage treatments.
The following assessments have been designed to ensure you are able to competently demonstrate your knowledge and skills for each of the elements and performance criteria as well as the required knowledge and skills for this unit.
Successful completion of this unit will enable you to competently apply the skills and knowledge required to prepare for and provide remedial massage treatments based on the outcomes of an existing health assessment and treatment plan. This includes the ability to:
1. Prepare client for treatment
2. Use remedial massage techniques and sequences
3. Provide advice and resources to the client

Assessment Task – Professional Placement Program

Candidates will participate in Professional Placement as part of the Diploma of Remedial Massage qualification. They will be required to complete an Industry Placement
Logbook throughout their placement. The candidate will be observed in the workplace carrying out specific skills in relation to remedial massage treatments as outlined in the logbook.

• The purpose of this assessment is to determine your knowledge regarding remedial massage treatments.
• You are required to write a response to each of the identified questions by logging in to Moodle and recording your answers in the space provided. Where relevant, the required response criterion is identified within the question.
• You are advised of this assessment during session 1. At this time, trainers and/or assessors will provide you with a due date for this assessment to be completed. All questions are to be answered by the designated due date.
• You will be required to complete this assessment at home in your own time (and/or during class if time permits)
• Time allowed for assessment is 4 – 5 hours. This is a guide only and you may be allowed more or less time to complete this assessment task.
– Assessors will provide you with feedback and mark your answers as required through Moodle and you will be notified of your outcome via email. They will record the final results of this assessment (Satisfactory/Not yet Satisfactory) on the Summary of Assessment Tool.
– You are required to achieve a satisfactory result for this assessment task. Failure to do so will result in not commencing Professional Placement.
