Assessment 1 – Personal Development Plan (PDP)
You are to produce a formal, professional, Personal Assessment Report (PAR) on your own ability and competencies. You will be provided with guidance on this during the module. You may use appendices in your report, but they must be referred to in the main body of the report. Your appendices will be based on previous evidence you have of your skill development and work-based experience.
You are to formulate a personal development plan (PDP) for your period of work-based learning that clearly specifies the learning you want to occur as a result of your work-based experience on behalf of a client and your work-based learning experience. Your PDP wilt be derived from a critical and reflective analysis of your personal and employability skills as well as an analysis of the skills and competencies needed to undertake your job satisfactorily.
You are to present your PDP in this report. You should include:
1) A full skills audit of your current skills. Be detailed and honest when reflecting on your current level of skills. Be specific about the skills you feel are your strengths (you may wish to conduct a SWOT analysis to help). Rather than saying that you have effective communication skills, identify specifically which communication skills you are referring to, for example writing skills for reports, or oral communication skills to make a professional presentation. Remember you need to rate and justify the rating for each of the skills.
2) An identification of the objectives – whether they be skills or work based tasks (6 as a minimum) you want to learn in order to successfully develop your professional and event management skiliset – break your experience down into as much detail as you can in order to identify the specific learning you want to gain in writing your objectives. Ensure they are written using SMART pnnoples. Please be explicit as to how your objectives will be measured.
You must also include details of the work experience that you have obtained. or applied for, and the rationale behind it. You must also consider academic frameworks of learning styles and your own personal characteristics and discuss this in detail, in relation to you as an independent learner and the applicability of this to your expenenre.
